(insert obligatory I don't know about you, but I'm feeling twenty-two Taylor Swift reference here!)
At twenty-two, to be completely open, I thought I'd have my life - at least my short term plans! - figured out. I thought I'd be at a new job with an exciting company in a new city. I thought I would be confident in my choices and strong willed with each step I took in life. At the very least, I thought I'd have my own apartment.
Now? Today is my birthday (and I'm riding hiiighhhh, Lorde reference). I'm twenty-two! I am none of those things, and in fact, not only do I not have my own apartment, but today I'm moving my stuff from my old apartment back into my parents' house. Talk about the irony.
I've always said that I'd like to be 21 and then generally just stop aging. Once you can finally legally drink then what's the fun part about getting older? This time, though, I'm actually really excited. I like this new stage of life, post-college - words that just a few years ago would have made me shutter. Life isn't how I pictured it at all, but I'm really happy. I have great friends who pick me up and encourage me, but pull me down when I'm getting a big head. I have family who support me, and I've done things in the past year that I couldn't imagine in my wildest dreams.
I visited New York City. Twice! I saw Carolina beat Clemson for the fifth year in a row. I took a roadtrip to see Macklemore. I met my first blogger friend in person, who is now one of my closest friends. I GRADUATED! In January/February, I watched it snow in South Carolina, not once, but TWICE! I met bloggers who I majorly look up to, and I've accomplished a lot on my 101 in 1001 list. Amy Astley regramed me (?!). I've watched this blog grow and grow in the way that I'd hoped it would, and I feel like I'm coming into my own.
Twenty-one was such an awesome year - better than I could have asked for, even with some of the bumps along the way. Twenty-two, I'm ready for you!

Happy Birthday! I am 20 right now and in six months I will be 21. The other day my mom asked me if I was excited..my reply was I am excited to be able to legally drink but I don't want 21 to come because I feel like it's the last fun birthday.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful day!
