UK Instagram Recap

I can't explain how happy I was to see my mom when I met her at the hotel. I had looked forward to seeing her for months, and even though I had only gotten about 3 hours of sleep the night before, hugging her in the hotel lobby, and being so, so happy, is something I'll never forget.

My mom and aunt left the UK and headed back to South Carolina this past Saturday, and I've been going over all the fun that we had over the short week they were here!

The first day they visited we did a little exploring, then Monday we went to Stonehenge and Bath...

Then we took a few days and went to York, which was amazing! We got to walk around the city and walk up to the top of York Minster, which we learned later was 287 stairs! By the end I was detailing my new work out plan because I was breathing hard.

Thursday we pulled the tourist card and went on a bus tour of London, which was fun for my mom and aunt, since I don't have all of London's secrets quite yet. Then we went to tea at the Langham, which if you're in London, you need to do it! It was amazing! We also saw Wicked that night and I totally get the cult following now - it was amazing!

Friday was our last day, and we purposefully didn't schedule many things to do because we wanted to relax. We ended up going to Abbey Road Studios and recreated the Abbey Road album cover (by the Beatles, of course), which we didn't realize would involve dashing in front of cars, pausing, then running out of the road.

That afternoon I showed my mom and aunt around my stomping grounds in East London, and we got a chance to relax for a bit in the hotel. We got drinks in the hotel bar, which I found out was the most expensive I'd ever had! I mean really, £15 (like $22) for a strawberry mojito?! Granted, it was really good...but still! We went out to dinner with my aunt's niece who also lives in London, and had such a good time eating and laughing with family!

I'm so sad that my mom and aunt had to leave so soon, but doesn't it kind of feel nice to get back into your normal groove? I know the first day they were gone I just relaxed in my flat and went outside to sit in a park. So nice!
