This video has going around the internet (it's already gotten over 5 million views!), but I hadn't seen it until last night, and I. was. moved. The video brings up how easy it is to assume that little sayings like doing something "like a girl" is harmless, especially if you're someone, like most people I know, who think that women can do things, anything, just as easily or well as men can.
But that's not true.
Like the #YesAllWomen movement earlier this month, Always is pointing the mirror back at society, both men and women, to show how detrimental even the seemingly smallest "insults" can be.
I teared up while watching this video like a girl. I wrote this post like a girl. And I'll keep spreading the words of these awesome movements so that someday this seemingly minuscule put downs of the female population fade...#likeagirl.
I've been a big fan of Mindy Kaling's for a long time, having seen her on The Office with the rest of the world. I got her book for Christmas 2012, and it was the first book I read while in London. Definitely saved me from some sad nights (I was super homesick in the beginning), and I remember wishing that the book wouldn't end! Has anyone else seen her show, The Mindy Project? It's one of my favorites, and I love her character! I won't leave any spoilers, but if you liked The Office and if you like Parks and Rec or New Girl, you'll love Mindy's show!
I found this video on Vogue's Youtube Channel a few days ago and couldn't stop laughing! It's so easy to identify with Mindy, wanting to look way cooler than you actually are. What do y'all think? I think she's hysterical!
In case you haven't already heard of him, before this video Casey Neistat could only be described as a badass. Now Neistat can be described as a stylish badass who partners with similarly cool brands to produce unique, badass videos. Needless to say, he's also one of my favorite filmmakers on Youtube. With his latest video, Travel With Style, Neistat partnered with J. Crew to show off their Ludlow suit, all while wearing Vans for J. Crew aboard his neon pink Penny Board.

Vogue put together this cool video interview, and I've gotta say that I love it! I learned so much about Sarah Jessica as a person, from the way she likes her coffee, to her favorite band, to what she loves about New York City. Granted, some of it is definitely scripted, and she obviously got the questions before the interview, but I definitely subscribed to the Vogue Youtube channel afterwards.
Do y'all like Sarah Jessica? I have to say that I never watched Sex and the City while it was on air (I think I was a bit too young for that), but I love watching reruns now! I own the first Sex and the City movie and couldn't possibly tell you how many times I've watched it!
So this weekend has been...sufficiently cold, to say the least. Fall has always been my favorite season, and winter, at least this year, is my least favorite. I can't stand walking outside only to have dry skin, visible breath, and shivers. After seeing this Tory Burch video, I'm aching for a tropical getaway. Anybody with me?
I'm late to the Foy Vance party, since he released his most recent album, Joy of Nothing, last August, but now that I've downloaded it, I am 100% on board. Foy's voice is incredible, and the fact that he's recorded a song with one of my long time favorites, Bonnie Raitt, only adds to his appeal. You and I is the collaboration he did with Bonnie, so check out his live performance! If you like acoustic, soulful music, you'll love Foy.
Even though this weekend in South Carolina will be getting into warmer weather again, I'm hoping to get in what last-minute Christmas chores I have to do. The days leading up to Christmas are usually so exciting, but I can't help but feel a bit sad, since for me the preparation is the best part of celebrating Christmas.
Mostly, I can't believe Christmas is over, I can't believe it's almost New Year's, and before you know it, it will be almost January 5th, exactly one year since I left for London. Time flies, right?

This is one of my favorite songs of 2013 that reminds me of London every time I listen to it. I downloaded it in May (possibly illegally...oops...), when the sun was finally starting to come out in the city, so it was practically on repeat while I explored some of my favorite parts of London. I can't help but swoon over his clearly British accent throughout. The videography is stunning, don't you think?
As a girl who loves heels, but hardly ever wears them (because let's be honest, #college), this fun video by Garance Doré that tracks various women and models at Paris Fashion Week wearing heels is so relatable. Garance even challenges herself to go sans flats for an entire day! I love the way heels look, the confidence they give me, and the added cool factor, but I don't think I could stand walking in a pair of stiletto Louboutins all day...could you? Maybe if I had a pair of chunky heels I could do it!
But maybe any shoes, besides my beloved leather flats, would feel a bit cramped after a full day. Sometimes it's definitely worth it to be a bit uncomfortable if you can pull off an outfit with a pair of killer heels, right?
Most of the time when we see advertisements on television, online, or in print, we only think of the brand that they promote, which is a good thing, since that is what they are supposed to do. What a lot of people don't think of is the content agency behind the ad. The people who come up with the concept and work with the brand to create something that will stick in the consumer's mind.
Fallon is one of my favorite marketing/advertising agencies because of these two ads they did for French Connection for both their men's and women's lines. They're so fresh and playful and funny - something that you don't see a lot with higher end brands.
Fallon was also behind this gorilla ad for Cadbury Chocolate, which is one of the best known product ads of recent times because it was so attention grabbing! Don't you think it's hilarious?
Banana Republic has teamed up with Issa, the brand behind Kate Middleton's infamous blue wrap dress (which even has its own Wikipedia page!) to offer a gorgeous line of wrap dresses, preppy cardigans, and classic jewelry pieces.
When I lived in London, not everyone had such simple, classic style, but if you want to look like Kate (and honestly who wouldn't?), this is definitely the collaboration you'll want to see. The line's advertisement is so perfect for it to! I love seeing royal guards in movies, commercials, and advertisements, don't you?
Maybe you've heard of Bastille and their amazing song, Pompeii, but I bet you haven't heard this acoustic version filmed at the British Museum in honor of their current exhibit on Pompeii. I love the song in general, but this version might take the prize. So good.
I can't be the only one who loves a good behind the scenes documentary, right? Even within the first few seconds of the film, it is obvious that Chanel has done such a brilliant job with their behind the scenes look at what it takes to make their bicolor cardigan. Watching it feels almost like you're sneaking into the factory - like the people working with strings, fabric, and patterns don't know you're there while you sit still, fascinated by every step of the process.
Even if you can't afford Chanel *raises hand,* even solely based on visuals, the mini-documentary is stunning.
I thought I was really cool in London because I got to know of so many really talented UK artists that aren't very well known. I'd buy them (or...not buy them if they weren't on iTunes) and feel like such a hipster. I'd say things like "I'm sure you haven't heard of them, but they're really good," or "They're so small, they only have like _____ followers on Twitter." Yup, I was that girl.
So imagine how much of an idiot I felt like when I realized one of my favorite bands "from the UK" is actually American...and I had heard him before....in America. One of my friends had shown me a Timeflies Tuesday video last year covering Under the Sea, and I didn't even make the connection with Timeflies, this super cool "English" band. I'll wear the dunce hat. Someone hand it over.
Sara Elizabeth from With a Hint of Burbon posted this video yesterday, and I had to share. What do y'all think of Timeflies' version of Wagon Wheel? I usually like the original better, but this song is so different, that I'd put it in a whole different category. I can't stop listening!
Everyone has those little things that remind you of home, wherever that might have been when you were younger. I was lucky enough to grow up (for the most part) in one house my whole life. I have so many memories of my parents and my sister and me growing in my hometown, in the two minivans my mom had, and in our backyard. I remember taking our pup Eddie home for the first time and letting him sniff around the living room, and I remember my mom sleeping on the sofa next to him the first night he was here so that he wouldn't be alone. I remember painting my room three different times with my sister.
There are definitely songs that trigger those memories and feelings of nostalgia. Definitely songs that remind me of why I love home. Danny's Song by Loggins and Messina, in particular, reminds me of driving to the grocery store with my mom. Even now, when I really have no reason to go with her, my mom will wake me up on Saturday mornings to see if I want to go with her. It's a little tradition that's always stuck. It's the little things and the little memories that make home what it is. It's what, despite how hard this last week in London is, the reason I can't be too upset about returning home.

I feel like I've been posting a lot of videos lately. I apologize for that. It's not that I haven't wanted to spend time on the blog, but I've just found some videos that I really, really like. The internet (and Youtube) is (are) endless, and my love for the videos it (they) give(s) me is also unending.
So what I'm saying is that you need to watch this engagement announcement by Brinton Films because I love it and I want to be as cool and beautiful as this girl. Basically. Also, I used to work at a wedding magazine, so don't think I'm some weird girl who stalks wedding/engagement videos because I'm lonely and they make me happy.
There have been a lot of major haircuts this year (Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Princess Kate, Anne Hathaway, etc.) but this is not one of them. I've never seen this model, and I know that he's trying to look super sexy with that lip bite thing going on (it's working), but this is amazing.
And he looks so completely different! Don't you think?
